Family to be proud of

Date May 21, 2008

My daughters have watched me run a business for many years, during their growing years at home. Now they’re starting to branch out and do their own thing.  Two of them I want to highlight here.

Melanie, my eldest, is a very talented dressmaker and she is now beginning to take orders for wedding gowns, bridesmaids gowns, mother-of-the bride outfits and other formal wear. Over the years she has produced beautiful items of clothing and participated in the Melbourne Cup Fashion on the Field entries a few times.  When she married in 2004 she made her own gown and that of her bridesmaids, and since then has also done the bridesmaids for her youngest sister’s wedding. She has also done several other weddings and recently a few mother-of-the-bride outfits.  I’ve just been revamping her site to give it a new and fresh look and I invite you to go pay a visit!  Melanie-Jane.com.

Another daughter, Christine, works in the equestrian industry but has come home for a year after being invited to teach part time at a local college. The college had been researching equestrian studies last year and kept coming across Christine’s blog ‘Equus’ and in the end contacted her and offered her the teaching job since what they wanted to provide in the course, she’d been writing about.  She accepted and it’s been great having her back home.  She also works part-time at two horse riding schools and is never far away from horses.  I encourage you to go visit her blog as well as she always has interesting posts there with a series of interviews of people in the industry from all around the world.  Equus.

Thanks for the link mum, it’s bringing in hits! ;)

Need to change the title up the top of the page to Thomases.org or something… currently we’re “Flowery”!

    Kathie,
No wonder you’re proud of your daughters! They are extremely talented and, from the looks of the photo, quite beautiful, too. I checked out both of their sites and am impressed with those as well.
Kudos to their mom for raising such amazing children!

    Kathie,

You have been the Proverbs 31 woman to your children, living by example how to be a successful business woman. I have no doubt that they will succeed in their endeavors.

I had a look at Melanie’s web site the other day. She does do beautiful work.

You have encouraged the Divas all along to have blogs, and the importance of them. Christine is a good example of how a blog can lead us where we desire and need to be.

Thanks for sharing your lovely daughters with us.

The Word says “Train up a child in the way that they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it.” You have obviously lived by the Word and your children are shining examples. I pray the same will hold true for my own daughter. Be Blessed!
